Itinerary

  1. 1
    Arrive Srinagar

    Arrive at Srinagar airport and check in to a premium houseboat. Shikara ride on Dal Lake. Overnight houseboat. Meals: dinner.

    Srinagar to Kargil (205 km, 7 hours)

    Drive to Kargil through the scenery of the road. Overnight Kargil. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

  3. 3
    Kargil to Leh (220 km, 5 hours)

    Visit Yungdung Gompa, built on a rock about 125 km west of Leh, on the way. Arrive in Leh at about 3,500 m and rest for the full day to acclimatise. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh and Alchi

    Visit Alchi, a village in the Indus Valley 67 km west of Leh, with its five-temple monastery. See the Sangam confluence and Magnetic Hill. Visit the Military Hall of Fame, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara and Spituk Monastery. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh to Nubra Valley (125 km, 4 to 5 hours)

    Drive over Khardongla Pass to Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit and Hunder monasteries and the 100 ft Maitreya Buddha statue. Visit the sand dunes, with a double-humped camel safari (paid directly). Overnight in deluxe tents. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Lake (4 to 5 hours)

    Drive to Pangong Tso Lake, part of the India-China border area, at about 14,000 feet. Overnight in deluxe tents. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Pangong Tso Lake to Leh (5 to 6 hours)

    Drive back to Leh. Evening free for shopping in the Leh bazaars. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh local sightseeing

    Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and Leh Market. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh to Delhi and Ahmedabad

    Transfer to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport for the flight to Delhi and onward to Ahmedabad. Meals: breakfast.

Inclusions

  • Return airport transfers and sightseeing by NAC Xylo or Innova, as per group size. Vehicles follow the day-to-day plan and are not on disposal.
