Itinerary

  1. 1
    Arrive Leh by flight

    Arrive at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport (about 3,500 m) and transfer to the hotel in Leh. Full day to rest and acclimatise. Overnight Leh. Meals: dinner.

  2. 2
    Leh and Alchi

    Drive to Alchi, about 67 km west of Leh, with the Sangam confluence on the way. Visit Magnetic Hill, the Military Hall of Fame, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara and Spituk Monastery. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh to Nubra Valley (125 km, 4 to 5 hours)

    Drive over Khardongla Pass to Nubra Valley. Visit Diskit and Hunder monasteries and the 100 ft Maitreya Buddha statue. Visit the sand dunes, with a double-humped camel safari (paid directly). Overnight in deluxe tents. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Turtuk excursion

    Visit Diskit Monastery on the way to Turtuk, the last village on the Indian side of the border. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Nubra Valley. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Lake (4 to 5 hours)

    Drive to Pangong Tso Lake, part of the India-China border area, at about 14,000 feet. Overnight in deluxe tents. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Pangong Tso Lake to Leh (5 to 6 hours)

    Drive back to Leh. Evening free for shopping in the Leh bazaars. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh local sightseeing

    Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and Leh Market. Overnight Leh. Meals: breakfast, dinner.

    Leh to Delhi and Ahmedabad

    Transfer to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport for the flight to Delhi and onward to Ahmedabad. Meals: breakfast.
